Former "New Europe" hotel in Baku

Variants of the name:

Hotel „Nowa Europa”

The building of the former "New Europe" hotel was built between 1910 and 1913 and is located in Baku. It was designed by the Polish architect Jozef Ploszko, who executed it on behalf of Musa Nagiyev, an Azerbaijani entrepreneur who made his fortune in oil extraction. At the time of construction, the building was characterised by its modern style and workmanship (it had lifts and the structure was reinforced concrete). The hotel has six storeys and was built on a rectangular plan truncated at the corner of the streets. It is built of brick and plastered. The roof is flat, with space for a summer restaurant. Many prominent personalities have lived there, including Sergei Yesenin. The building is considered an architectural monument and an important part of the Bakinskaya development. It now houses the office of the Russian oil company "Lukoil".
