craftsman, artist

Biography:

Didier Landowski is a contemporary French foundry artist with Polish roots, active in France. He was entrusted with his casts by, among others, César, Ipoustéguy, Jeanclos or François Xavier Lalanne. Through him, the Blanchet company became synonymous with quality and know-how, and began to operate in the art market. He was introduced to the arcana of foundry knowledge by Maurice Koller, a foundryman active between the wars, specialising in medals. From 1971 to 1993, he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. An advocate of a code of ethics in foundry-making, he sought to make it a requirement in this field to sign products with a foundry stamp numbering the piece and the date of realisation. He retired in 2005, entrusting the mission of his company to his son Michel.
