Biography:

Edward Cetnarowski (1877-1933), born in Rzeszów, doctor of medicine, gynaecologist, sports activist, long-time president of Cracovia and first president of the Polish Football Association.

He worked as an assistant under Dr Henryk Jordan. He served as president of Cracovia from 1919 to 1932 and later became its first honorary president. He was co-founder and first president of the Polish Football Association. After moving the association's headquarters to Warsaw and disputes over the organisation of the league, he stepped down in 1928, becoming honorary president.

In 1921, he co-founded Przegląd Sportowy. He took part in the selection of the Polish national team for the match against the Kingdom of SHS in 1922.

He died suddenly in 1933 during the opening of the final tournament for the Polish championship in hazen. His funeral in Kraków attracted numerous delegations and condolences from foreign football associations. In 1945, the Cracovia stadium (until 1948) was named after him. He rests in the Rakowicki cemetery in Kraków.
