Biography:

Edward Henry George August (1884-1924), born at Saint-Maur des Fosses, son of Joseph and Gabrielle Cochard, grandson of Joseph and Marie de Cassius. His grandfather, Second Lieutenant Joseph Mirenowicz, was an officer in the November Rising and an émigré.

Edward's brother was André Bertelemy Jules, captain in the French Army, Chevalier of the Legion of Honour for meritorious service on the battlefield (1917), officer of the Legion of Honour (1935), engineer resident in Paris between the wars, married to Lucie Fanny Georgette Michon. Both brothers lived in the rue Oberkampf.

In 1905. Edward was assigned to the 36th Infantry Regiment as part of the draft. In 1906, he took part in the French rugby championship fight. From 1914 to 1919, as an officer, he took part in the First World War and was awarded the Croix de Guerre (War Cross) with bronze star.

In 1913, he married Suzanne Félicité Louise Riguelle. To mark the occasion, according to the daily newspaper La Gaulois of 17 December 1913, the bride's father held a reception on the 21st of that month at his salons in rue du Colonel-Moll. Children were born of this marriage, Janine Simone (1917-2010) and Pierre Alfred (1922-1973).

He died on 15 September 1924 in Paris at 19 rue d'Armailé of infectious meningitis. He was buried on 18 September 1924 in the Père-Lachaise cemetery in concession No. 294-1895 (AdP AD Paris 17e No. 2191 of 15 September 1924).
