Biography:

Emil Krcha (1894-1972), born in Kałusz, painter. He fought in the Polish Legions, later serving in the Austro-Hungarian Army and the Polish Positry Corps. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Teodor Axentowicz, Stanisław Kamocki and Ignacy Pieńkowski, then improved his skills in Paris thanks to a scholarship, travelling also to Belgium and the Netherlands. He was a member of ZPAP and co-founder of the Zwornik group. He taught drawing in Krzemieniec, after the Second World War he co-founded and taught at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław, later he worked at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He painted landscapes, genre scenes and still lifes in post-impressionist tones. He exhibited nationally, and posthumous exhibitions of his work were held in Bydgoszcz, Wrocław and Sanok, among others.
