Biography:

Feliks Napoleon Bronikowski (1807-1871), born in Żelechów, son of Feliks and Agnieszka Sypniewska, lieutenant in the 22nd Regiment of Line Infantry, conductor of roads and bridges.

He arrived in France in September 1832. He was granted permanent residency on 5th December 1841, and naturalised on 23rd May 1863, by Decree No. 15356 (ANF ref. BB/11/450).

In 1841 he married Marie Félicité Denizot (born 19 February 1806), daughter of Silvain Denizot and Marie Faland (ADep. Cher AM Saint-Amand No. 2 of 11 January 1841). They had three children:

  • Marie François Camille d'Oppeln Bronikowski (1845-1902), captain, commander of the 11th artillery regiment, awarded the Legion of Honour (1885 - cavalier, 1900 - officer). He held command positions in several regiments, and left the service as commander of the Saint-Denis artillery on 7 January 1901. He died on 14 August 1902 in Marseille, and was buried in the old cemetery of Saint-Amand-Montrond (abandoned grave). He married Émilie Joséphine Bernand (1856-1907, married 5 June 1876 in Le Havre, ADep. Seine-Maritime AM Havre No. 381 of 1876), daughter of Maximilien Charles Colomb Bernand, a high official and officer of the Legion of Honour. They had three children: two daughters, Marguerite Marie Henriette Suzanne d'Oppeln-Bronikowska (b. 13 June 1880, Le Havre, ADep. Seine-Maritime, AN Le Havre no. 1593, 14 June 1880), who married Jean Amédée Grou (1870-1914) at Versailles on 5 August 1903. She died in 1945 in Paris (13th arrondissement) and was buried in Montmartre cemetery that year. Marie Antoinette d'Oppeln Bronikowska (1883-1885). And Marie Simon's son Gabriel Maximilien d'Oppeln Bronikowski (1877-1920), who married Marie Solange Bodin in 1903.
