Biography:

Felix Janiewicz (1762-1848) - violinist, composer, conductor and pedagogue active in Austria, Italy, France and Great Britain. Most probably a pupil of Joseph Haydn in Vienna, during his studies he maintained friendly relations with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as evidenced by the dedication appearing on the Andante for violin and orchestra (KV 470, the second version of the second movement of the Second Violin Concerto in D major KV 218). In the 1790s Janiewicz was a soloist in the orchestra of the Duke of Orleans in Paris. From 1792 he lived in Britain, first in London and from 1799 in Edinburgh. He also made history as one of the 30 co-founders of the Philharmonic Society in London in 1813.
