Biography:

Franciszek Ksawery Branicki (1730-1819), born in Barwald, son of Piotr and Waleria née Szembek, first adjutant-general of the King in 1764, Minister of War in the Guard of the Laws, Field Hetman of the Crown. He took part in the Seven Years' War, serving first in the Russian and then in the French army. In 1762, he became a deputy to the Sejm. He was a member of the confederation of the Four-Year Sejm. He was a co-founder of the Targowica Confederation.
