Biography:

Franciszek Jaszczołd (1806-1873), born in Siemiatycze, architect. He worked mainly in the areas of Podlasie and Polesie. The son of the architect Wojciech Jaszczołd, he was educated at the architecture course of the University of Warsaw.

He specialised in neo-Gothic, designing and rebuilding numerous residences and park layouts. Among his works are the palace in Konstantynów, the Pusłowski palace in Mereczowszczyzna (together with Władysław Marconi), as well as residences in Wistycze, Kowerdziaki, Roskosza and Patrykozy. He was also the author of the Orzeszko court chapel in Zakoziel (1838-1839) and the design for the monument to Feliks Tykel in the cemetery in Żychlin (1848).

He died on 6 September 1873 in Kobylany, where he was buried. His tombstone has been preserved in the local cemetery.
