Grave of Juliusz Klosowski and Ludwik Szukalski

In the parish cemetery in the village of Hede in the municipality of Härjedalen in the administrative region of Jämtland, there is a grave where 2 Poles, unknown by name, are buried. On the grave is a stone with an inscription in Swedish "H.V.. Tva Polacker / Offer for Krigget/ 1945" (translated as "Two Poles. Victims of war. 1945").

In 2023, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage received information from the records of the local parish that the buried Poles are: Juliusz Klosowski, died 20 December 1945, and Ludwik Szukalski, died 2 February 1946. Both were taken to Sweden in the summer of 1945 as part of the humanitarian action carried out by the Swedish Red Cross and UNRRA and were sent to Hede for treatment.
