Grób ofiar Ukraińskiej Powstańczej Armii (UPA)

During the night from 5 to 6.02.1945, a large group of members of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) attacked the Polish population. More than 300 houses were burnt down, mainly the Mazury settlement inhabited by Poles. Some people took refuge in the church and the brick school building. In this area and in the centre of the village was the strongest Polish self-defence. More than 100 Poles were killed, the exact number has not been established. The victims were buried in the following days in the Barysh cemetery in a mass earthen grave. After this attack, Poles fled en masse to Buczacz.

The grave is located on the left side of the cemetery (counting from the entrance gate), in close proximity to the Świdrygiełło-Swiderski burial chapel, and occupies an area of 5 x 15 m.

The grave was arranged in 2013 by the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites.
