During the Second World War about 30 Poles lived in the village. On the night of 11/12.07.1943, members of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army murdered the Polish population living there. The bodies of several victims were thrown into the cellar of one of the houses; it is not known whether their burial was later carried out.

The remains of the other victims were buried in a common grave near the local monastery. It is a large earth grave several metres high and measures approximately 18 x 18 metres. Concrete steps lead to the top of the grave. It is likely that the grave was once crowned by a monument, but there is no trace of it today.
