Grave of the Poles shot by the Germans on 5.8.1942

The action of extermination of Polish intelligentsia of the Novogrudok voivodeship was carried out in June - August 1942. The arrested persons were kept in prisons, and then led out for executions. On 5.08.1942, 72 people (the names of 36 are known) - Polish intelligentsia from Nesvizh and surrounding towns - were executed, arrested on 26-28 June 1942, according to lists drawn up by confidants. The execution was carried out by the Germans and the Belarusian police. A description of the execution can be found in "Wieczor Wybrzeża" No. 80 of 1987 and in "Wspomnieniach farmaceutów z lat 1939-1945". For some time the grave remained unknown (it is located in the forest), only one person was able to indicate the place of execution. In the post-war period, local Christians placed a cross on this grave several times. It was not until the "perestroika" period that it was possible to erect a magnificent monument of red granite and fence the grave with a metal fence. Every year on All Souls' Day and on the occasion of pilgrimages from Poland, ecumenical prayers for the dead are held at the grave. The grave is looked after by local people from Malew and Jaskiewicz. In 2002, the local authorities founded a monument in memory of the victims of this massacre. Its ceremonial unveiling and consecration took place on 9.08.2002. The monument is made of red granite, the grave is surrounded by a metal fence. The inscription on the monument is engraved in Polish and Russian. It reads: "Ś.P. / Here lie the bodies / of Polish citizens / murdered / by the Nazis / 5 VIII 1942 / 4 priests / 18 women / 58 men / Peace to their souls". The inscription below reads: "The late / priest / Dominiak / parish priest / par. Siejkowicze / 5.8.1942 / age 39". Near the monuments, a large plaque was placed with the appeal: "Good people, remember!
