Grave of Poles murdered by the Germans in 1944.

According to statistics from 1931, the village had 257 homesteads and 1237 inhabitants. Poles predominated, there were about 20 Ukrainians and Jews each. During the Second World War, there was strong self-defence here, which repulsed attacks by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. In view of this, the UPA reported to the Germans that there were Polish and Soviet partisans in the village. Therefore, on 8.03.1944, the Germans pacified the village, murdering 43 men - 40 known by name and 3 unknown. The victims were buried in the local church cemetery in a common grave. On 10.08.2003, a document was placed in this grave (and under the Memorial Plaque in Legnica, Poland) which reads: "10.08.2003 r. Forty-three men aged between 13 and 87 (40 from Płotycza Mała and 3 from other villages) were buried at this site. The murder was carried out in groups and individually on 8 March 1944. German Wehrmacht. The names of the murdered are listed alphabetically with the omission of three undetermined names. They inform the families of the murdered with regret. Details of the massacre were described by Pawel Albanski, Pawel Drzewinski, Pawel Marcinowski on the 59th anniversary. [hereinafter list 40 names]". In 2007. The Council for the Protection of Remembrance of Struggle and Martyrdom funded the erection of a permanent commemoration on the grave of the victims. The existing tombstone of Franciszek Kubów was left in place and was renovated. A wall of broken stone (granite) with an openwork fence made of square rods was designed. A 330 cm high granite cross was erected in the central part with inscriptions in Polish and Ukrainian commemorating the Polish tragedy. The commemoration was consecrated on 5.07.2008 together with three other commemorations of victims from this period - in Ihrowica, Berezowica Mala and Szlachcińce. Inscription on the commemoration: a quote from Kornel Ujejski's poem: "With the smoke of fires, with the dust of brotherly blood to Thee, Lord, cries this voice!"; below the text: "To the memory / of the resting here / of the 43 Poles / inhabitants of the village / Płotycz / murdered / on 8 March 1944 / May they rest in peace / Government of the Republic of Poland / Families / 2007".
