On 30.06.1863 in the woods near Poyurz a skirmish took place between an insurgent unit under the command of Dluuski, which was exhausted by the long march, and Russian troops under the command of Lt. Col. Pushkin. The insurgents succumbed to the overwhelming force of the enemy, losing almost 150 dead, but the rest of the unit escaped dismemberment and joined up with the unit under Staniewicz.
The fallen insurgents were buried in a common grave in the forest. Their grave is located on a rather steep hill above the Jura River. It is not directly accessible by car; the last part of the route has to be covered on foot. A boulder has been placed on the insurgents' grave, with a metal plaque next to it and a wooden cross to the left. The whole area is fenced off with a low mesh fence. In front of the fence there is an information board in Lithuanian.
