Grave of the January Uprising insurgents

On 26.11.1863, near the village of Karalgiris, in the village of Lebeda, the last battle between the insurgent troops of Father Antoni Mackiewicz and the Tsarist troops took place. About 40 insurgents died in the battle and were buried in a common grave. A large boulder and a pillar with an information plaque in Lithuanian stand there. On 17.12.1863, Fr Mackiewicz was arrested and taken to Kaunas prison, where he was soon executed.
