Tomb of a soldier of the Polish Army in France (the so-called "Blue Army"), Lt. Jozef Frank at Western Cemetery

In the Western Cemetery, in the military section, there is a large quarter no. 40, where French soldiers are buried. In the third row of this cemetery, in grave no. 138, Lieutenant of the Polish Army in France (the so-called Blue Army) Jozef Frank, died 20.06.1919, is buried. He took part in the fighting against the Bolsheviks on the Arkhangelsk front in the Polish Army Detachment in Northern Russia (the so-called "Murmanskers"), and in January 1919 reached France by ship to join the units of the Blue Army. He died in hospital in Le Mans on 20.06.1919.

The inscription on the cross at the burial site did not so far indicate that he was a Polish soldier, as the plate stated: "Sous Lieutenant / Franck Joseph / 20 06 1919". It was not until 2024 that local genealogist Philipe Renauld established that this was the grave of a Polish Army officer and led to a corrected plaque being placed on the cross: "Sous-Lieutenant - Second Lieutenant / Frank Joseph / 20 06 1919".
