Tomb of Polish Legions soldier Józef Gacek

In the cemetery in Tøinec there is a grave of Jozef Gác (born on 21.02.1893 in Pisarzovice near Bielsko) soldier of the Polish Legions who died on 4.01.1915 in the hospital in Tøinec, during the stopover of some of the legionary units in Tìšín Silesia. Initially a metal cross was placed on the grave of Jozef Gacek; on 1 November 1934, thanks to the efforts of the local branch of the Sokol Gymnastic Association, the present gravestone monument was unveiled with the inscription "Jozef Gacek from Pisarzowice, soldier of the Polish Legion Brigade 21.2.1893 - 4.1.1915. Compatriot! Sigh for the soul of the Legionary and say a Hail Mary". The caretaker of the grave was Jozef Cienciała, and later his daughter Wanda Bielesz. In 1998, the grave was renovated with a grant from the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Remembrance. Since 2022 it has been under the care of the Circle of the Polish Cultural and Educational Association Tøinec-Stare Town.
