Grave of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war, exhumed from the manor park

In the interwar period, a grave was arranged in the old manor park for the soldiers of the Polish Army who were killed on 24-28 July 1920 during the battle of Chomin Bor. The Poles managed to break out of the Soviet encirclement, despite very unfavourable conditions. The grave of the fallen was a symbol for the locals - the grave of the unknown soldier. Flowers were regularly laid on it. During the communist era, the grave was destroyed. However, in the 1990s it was found and, with the permission of the authorities, the remains of the dead were moved to the cemetery. During exhumation work, the corpses of three soldiers, elements of Polish uniforms and cartridges from 1920 were found. Their burial took place at the beginning of May 1999. The grave is unnamed, the inscription on the plaque placed on the grave reads: "Grave / of the Unknown Soldier / 1920". It has not been possible to establish the personalities of the soldiers buried here. "List of Polish Army losses", compiled in 1934, gives the names of 10 soldiers killed near Russia, but there are no documents confirming their burial in this village.
