Grave of Polish Army soldiers killed in September 1939.

On 19.09.1939, 67 soldiers of the 38th Infantry Division of the Polish Army were killed in the battle against the Germans. The names of 41 of them were ascertained after the battle by the Greek Catholic parish priest of Yasnisky - Hryhoriy Myrovich - and he entered them in the metric books of the Yasnisky parish for 1939. He also sent documents found with the fallen soldiers to the Polish Red Cross in Warsaw. The soldiers were buried in a mass grave in the local cemetery, on the orders of a Wehrmacht colonel who paid tribute to their bravery. Soon after the war, the family of the fallen Capt Rószkiewicz placed a wooden cross on the grave. When the cross frothed and collapsed, a new cross was erected (apparently in a different location). The permanent installation of the grave was not made until 1991. - It was then that the workers of the "Energopol" base in Lviv, with the help of Lviv Poles, built a mass grave on a social project by architect Jarosław Skrzypczyk. Jarosław Skrzypczyk. The work was financed by the Council for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom Sites. On 22.11.1992 the ceremonial unveiling of this commemoration took place. The inscription reads: "Here lie 67 soldiers / of the Polish Army / fallen on 19 September 1939 / in the fight against the Germans / Honouring their memory". There is no plaque on the monument listing the names of the buried soldiers.
