Graves of Poles from World War II in the main cemetery

At least 155 Polish citizens who died between 1940 and 1945 are buried in the main cemetery (German: Hauptfriedhof) in Kassel. The names of 98 Poles are known. The graves of most of them are located in the foreigners' quarters (no. 20).

In 2020-2021, the Polish-German Reconciliation Foundation, as part of a task supported by the Ministerial Programme "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad", compiled data on the buried persons and made it available, together with a description of the cemetery, on the website of the project "Polish Memorials and War Graves in Germany": https://polskiegroby.pl/cmentarz.php?jez=pl&cmentarzok=542&landok=8 '
