Biography:

Gustaw Wołowski (1829-1868), born in Warsaw, son of Wojciech Stanisław Wołowski (1802-1849) and Kazimiera Krysińska (1803-1872), lawyer and official of the Kingdom of Poland. His baptism took place in 1831 at St Andrew's parish (Book of Baptisms, no. 75). In 1861 he married Zofia Maria Minter, daughter of the industrialist Karol Juliusz Minter (1812-1892) and the painter Ludwika Czarnecka. This marriage produced a daughter, Laura Maria Wołowska (1862), baptised at St John's Parish in Warsaw.

He died at Cannes on 20 April 1868, aged 38. He was initially buried there, but his body was moved to the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris. His death was reported by Charles Antoine Buthera, a physician, and Hubert Jenard, a Grand Naval captain.
