Henri Alexandre Volodkovich (1806-1875), son of John Henri Volodkovich and Marie Thérèse Lasseray-Wolodkovich, tax collector, official of the French Ministry of Finance, industrialist and investor.

Career and professional activities

• He obtained French naturalisation in 1835.
• From 1836, he worked in Algeria.
• From 1844 to 1851, he held the office of general tax collector in the departments of Eure-et-Loir (from 1844) and Vosges (from 1846).
• In 1851, he received his resignation from the office of tax collector.

Investment and industrial activities

• He was one of the founders of the Société, a property development company along Rivoli Street in Paris (in 1854 he held 3335 shares worth 333,500 francs).
• He also invested in other ventures, including shares in the Paris-Strasbourg Railway in 1844.

Private life

• He resided in Paris: initially at 4bis rue Atorg, and in 1862 at 4 place Palais-Bourbon.
• His wife was Camilla Victoire La Fonta (Lafonta), daughter of King Louis Philippe's aide-de-camp. Her obituary mentions numerous friends and family, including the Polish line of the Volodkowicz family.

Family

• Henry's father, also Henry, was a French general, listed on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris as 'Henry'. He appeared in France under this name.
• His mother, Marie Thérèse Lasseray-Wolodkowicz, lived for 82 years and was a resident of the 1st arrondissement of Paris. She died on 18 February 1860 and was buried in Père-Lachaise Cemetery in grave no. 151486-1384.

Family connections
Aleksander Wołodkowicz, son of Wincenty and Jadwiga Tyszkiewicz, died in Paris in 1861 (the year 1862 is erroneously given on his tombstone). He was an émigré after the November Rising and a fairly distant relative of Henryk Aleksander Wołodkiewicz.

According to T. Żychliński, Złota Księga..., vol. 5, p. 431, the mother was supposed to be the Marquise de Lisieuese , which, in the light of the death certificate, is incorrect; the same author gives information on the factories owned (without specifying which) in the vicinity of Lyon.
