Biography:

Herman Epstein (1806-1867), born in Warsaw, son of Jakub Epstein, merchant and philanthropist, and Henrietta Glickson, Warsaw banker and entrepreneur of Jewish origin.

From the 1850s he served as Chairman of the Board of two key railways: The Warsaw-Vienna Railway and the Warsaw-Bydgos Railway.

Wikipedia incorrectly states that he died in Warsaw and was buried in the Jewish cemetery on Okopowa Street.

The death occurred at his home at 22 Rue Elysée in Paris. His death was reported by Julius Epstein, engineer, aged 28, resident at 21 Rue de Miromésnil (nephew of the deceased), and Léonce Lange, estate agent, aged 34, resident at 11 Rue Olivier prolongée (son-in-law of the deceased).

He was married to Eleonora Glücksberg, aged 51, a pensioner. The death was registered under deed number 1419 of 1867 (AdP AD Paris 8e no. 1419 of 1867).
