Biography:

Ignacy Czernik (1803-1887), born in Dzierżno, officer, émigré activist, participant in the November Rising and the Spring of Nations. In his youth, he was educated at the Cadet Corps in Kalisz and the Infantry Officer Cadet School in Warsaw. He was one of the first members of Wysocki's Sprzysiężenie, which initiated the outbreak of the November Uprising. He fought in many battles, including at Ostrołęka and Wilno. After the fall of the uprising, he emigrated to France, where he was active in the Polish Democratic Society.

He took part in the Spring of Nations, fighting in Hungary in the Polish Legion. After the fall of the Hungarian uprising, he settled in Paris, working as a lithographer and publishing in the press.
