Information about the object:
Kaczyka is home to one of the few preserved pre-World War II cemeteries in Bukovina that has not been inventoried. From the documentation provided to the beneficiary by the Union of Poles in Romania - Polish Association in Romania on the state of preservation of the site, it shows a high degree of destruction of the preserved objects of the sepulchral complex.

Another aspect is the historical context. Kačica in Romania, like Inowrocław in Poland, were in the 19th and early 20th century salt-making basins. Polish salt miners at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries started excavations in Bukovina and traces of their presence need to be secured or at least professionally inventoried and documented.

Work completed:
The aim of the task was to carry out an inventory and preservation work of sepulchral and memorial objects related to Polish settlers and salt workers at the Polish cemetery in Kačača, Suceava County, Romania. Documentation of the inventoried objects was transferred to the database of polonics, baza.polonika.pl.

An important objective of the task was the promotion of science and education through the active participation of schoolchildren in heritage conservation projects led by high-level specialists.
