Biography:

Jadwiga Kukułczanka-Peyrou (1933-2020), born in Dąbrowa Górnicza, translator, poet and literary critic. Graduated in Romance philology from the University of Warsaw. She translated numerous theatre plays into Polish and French, including those by Jean Anouilh, Georges Feydeau, Witold Gombrowicz and Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. She has also collaborated on screenplays and film productions. She was awarded the Prize of the Polish Branch of the SEC (1988) and decorated with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland (2002). She died in Paris and was buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery.
