Biography:

Jan Lenica (1928-2001), born in Poznań, son of Alfred and Janina née Kubowicz. He was an outstanding Polish visual artist, screenwriter and art critic, considered one of the main representatives of the so-called Polish Poster School. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. He served as graphic editor of the weekly magazine "Szpilki" and was an assistant at the Poster Department of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. He taught poster design at Harvard University in Cambridge, headed the Department of Animated Film at the University of Kassel and was professor of poster and graphic design at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.
