Biography:

Jarosław Leon Iwaszkiewicz (1894-1980), born in Kalnik, son of Bolesław, writer, poet, essayist and translator, co-founder of the Skamander group. From 1928 he lived in Stawisko in Podkowa Leśna, today there is a museum named after him there. During the occupation, he hid people at risk of arrest, for which he was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations. After 1945, he was editor-in-chief of "Twórczość", president of the Association of Polish Writers and a member of the Sejm of the People's Republic of Poland. He was nominated four times for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
