Biography:

Jerzy Iwanowski (1878-1965), engineer and political activist. He graduated from the St Petersburg Institute of Technology, where he became involved in the Polish Socialist Party (PPS), which resulted in his expulsion from the university several times. After graduating, he was active in Częstochowa, the Zagłębie Dąbrowskie region and the Warsaw Wola district. In 1918, he became Minister of Industry and Trade, and the following year Minister of Labour Protection and Welfare. In 1920, he took part in the Polish-Soviet War. During the Second World War, he fought in the Polish Armed Forces. After the war, he emigrated to Great Britain.
