Biography:

Jerzy Ryszard Zieliński (Jurry, 1943-1980) - Polish painter, author of happenings, one of the legends of post-war artistic life in Warsaw. A graduate of Warsaw's Academy of Fine Arts, together with Jan Dobkowski he co-founded the Neo-Neo-Neo group. In his painting he was inspired by Art Nouveau on the one hand, and Pop Art on the other. He expressed this unconventional combination by creating flat patches of uniform colour, outlined with a clear, fluid contour. Among his best-known realisations is a series of spatial forms made of fibreboard and painted in a single, intense colour. The biomorphic forms often evoked erotic associations. The works can be found in many European public collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Olomouc.
