Józef Robakowski (born 1939) - Polish interdisciplinary artist, painter, photographer, author of films, photo-objects, installations and happenings active in Łódź. One of the first representatives of rephotography in Poland. Graduate of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź, where he currently lectures. Co-founder of many artistic groups, including Oko (1960), Zero-61 (1961-1969) and Krąg (1965-1967). Since 1978, owner of Exchange Gallery. In his art he reflects on the medium, is interested in the conditioning of human perception towards the camera and film camera, and experiments with abstract film, the asynchronicity of sound and image and their mutual relationship. He is the author of the concept of art as fields of energy transmission.
