Górecki burial chapel

A distressed, plastered reinforced concrete chapel, covered by a reinforced concrete cradle with a preserved cube frieze. On the axis, a semi-circular closed window covered by a profiled band, with a cast-iron grille. A fragment of the floor with a visible buried rectangular entrance to the burial cellar is preserved. In front of the chapel a black-painted steel cross was erected in the 1990s by the "Zgoda" Association, to which a tin plate with the inscription painted in gold letters Ś + P / GÓRECEKI / LUDWIK S. KAZIMIERZA / doktor medycyny / 1825-1885 // is attached.

Time of origin:
ca. 1900
History:
According to tradition, this is the chapel of Ludwik Górecki. However, it was not built until about 25 years after his death. It is possible that this is the ancestral chapel of the Górecki family, to which Ludwik Górecki may have been moved after its erection. Perhaps its erection can be linked to the death of Waclaw Górecki, a pupil of the Real Gymanzum, whose family reported a memorial service in subsequent years. The chapel was probably built around 1910; its original appearance is not known.
A design for Górecki's chapel has been preserved in the Kiev archives, but its form differs significantly from the surviving fragment of the chapel. The author of the design is said to be Romuald Grigorovich Tustanovsky (Ромуальд Григорьєвич Тустановський), an architect active in Kiev at least until 1886. He may have made a design for the chapel after Ludwik Górecki's death, which was not realised. It was created around 1906, when a student of the Kiev Real Gymnasium, Václav Górecki, died in Kiev, and in the following years a memorial service was held on the anniversary of his death .
Comments on the state of preservation and visible restoration:
