Chapel and plaque of Jacek Odrowąż in the Church of St Sabina at the Aventine

Variants of the name:

Basilica di Santa Sabina all'Aventino

Jacek Odrowąż (1183-1257) was one of the first Dominicans in Poland. He is called the Apostle of the Slavs and the Light from Silesia. He received the habit from the hands of St Dominic, the founder of the order, in the Church of St Sabina at the Aventine. At the entrance to the Dominican monastery, which adjoins the church of St Sabina, a plaque in Italian and Polish recalls Jacek Odrowąż.
In the church itself there is also a chapel dedicated to Jack Odrowąż, with a painting depicting the moment he was ordained by St Dominic.
