Biography:

Katarzyna Kobro (1898-1951) - sculptor of German-Russian descent active in Poland. Graduate of the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. From 1920, the wife of the painter Władysław Strzemiński. At the turn of 1921 and 1922, she and her husband moved to Poland. In the interwar period they co-founded the Polish avant-garde groups Blok, Praesens and a.r.. After the Second World War, Kobro and Strzeminski separated and the artist was forced to support her daughter on her own, battling an illness that ultimately led to her death. Kobro was inspired by Constructivism in her work.
