Armenian Cathedral in Lviv and its creators

The exhibition "The Armenian Cathedral in Lviv and its creators" takes the form of charts and spatial reconstructions that present both the architecture of the cathedral and the mural paintings by Jan Henryk Rosen that decorate its interior.

The exhibition is accompanied by multimedia materials, including podcasts in which the art historian specialising in the work of Jan Henryk Rosen - Dr. Joanna Wolańska - reveals facts and curiosities about the cathedral and its creators, and the director of the POLONIK Institute, Dorota Janiszewska-Jakubiak, discusses Polish cultural heritage abroad.

Viewers of the exhibition can also see Rosen's other realisations decorating the interiors of churches around the world, as well as works made for the Armenian Cathedral by other artists, including designs for the reconstruction of the cathedral by the Krakow architect Franciszek Mączyński and designs for ornamental decorations by Józef Mehoffer. The exhibition is also enriched by information explaining the historical and cultural context concerning Lviv's Armenians and the development of a multicultural Lviv, as well as information on the conservation work carried out in the cathedral since 2006.

As a supplement to the exhibition, the following films are screened - "Awakened Views", a film that brings Rosen's paintings to life, in which the figures portrayed by the painter reveal their identities, and viewers have the opportunity to learn about the artistic relations prevailing in Lviv in the early 20th century. The second film, aimed at the youngest viewers, is an episode of the educational fable "Polo and Nika". Children are taken on a journey to the Armenian Cathedral, where they have the opportunity to meet Jan Henryk Rosen, who is currently working on his masterpiece, and learn about the conservation of works of art.
The exhibition is accompanied by an album The Armenian Cathedral and its creators compiled in Polish, English, Ukrainian and Armenian.
