The conservationist and his superpowers

Dr Pawel Bolinski is an extraordinary conservationist. In conversation, he reveals the secrets of his work.

As part of the #stayathome campaign, we met online with Dr Pawel Bolinski.

He is an extraordinary conservator who is currently working on the frescoes by Franciszek and Sebastian Eckstein in the former Jesuit college in Lviv. This work is being funded by the POLONIKA Institute.

In the interview, P. Bolinski revealed the secrets of the conservator's work. He answered the questions: Is the conservator afraid of heights? Has he encountered places that are scary? And he also talked about the skills you need to work in this profession and what the profession entails and the challenges it presents.

Dr Paweł Boliński is assistant professor at the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art and director of the Conservation Documentation Studio of Painting and Sculpture at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. His studio is the only one in Polish conservation education that comprehensively deals with the issues of conservation documentation.
