Parish Church of St. Martin the Bishop in Bruckenthal

St Martin the Bishop Church in Bruckenthal - Roman Catholic wooden church, built between 1862 and 1864 for German colonists in the village of Bruckenthal (no longer exists).

History
The Roman Catholic chapel in Bruckenthal was founded together with a settlement colony in 1786 by German colonists. An independent parish was established here in 1856 and the spacious wooden church was built between 1862 and 1864 and consecrated in 1864. The temple suffered badly during the first stage of the First World War and the parsonage was completely destroyed. As late as 1915, efforts were still made to make the necessary, albeit for lack of funds and materials, mostly temporary repairs so that services could be held in the interior. In March 1944, the church, which housed about 100 Bruckenthal inhabitants, was burnt down by the UPA. It does not exist today.

The Bruckenthal parish included a brick chapel in Ostrobuzh, where the remains of the ruined shrine with remnants of painting decoration inside are still preserved today.

Architecture
The church in Bruckenthal was located on a small hill on a dirt road leading to a former farm (until 1945) and in Soviet times to a local kolkhoz, about 1 km west of the main road to Chlewczany. It was a substantial building, rectangular in plan, with three bays and a presbytery closed with a trilateral. The roof was covered with shingles, and above the nave was a turret with a neo-Baroque cupola. The appearance of the church is known only from one surviving archival photograph.
