St John the Baptist Church and Capuchin Monastery in Starokonstantinov

The Baroque ensemble of buildings was erected between 1750 and 1778 with the foundation of Prince Janusz Sanguszko according to a design by Paolo Fontana. The church, with its simple, harmonious forms, reflects the spirit of Capuchin asceticism. After the dissolution of the monastery in 1887, the monks operated secretly until the beginning of the 20th century. The temple was closed in 1935, and during the Soviet period it housed a House of Culture. In 1989, the church was returned to the faithful and re-consecrated.

In 2008, a plaque was placed inside the church to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Capuchins' presence in Ukraine.
