The quarters of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

In the north-western part of the cemetery there is a separate quarter for Polish soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war of 1920. 17 Polish soldiers are buried here, but only 3 are known by name. Some of the soldiers died in Vorniany and were buried directly in this cemetery section, while others rested here after exhumations carried out in the 1930s in Rudnia Stara II and Widziuny. The quarter has 6 mass graves, situated in one row, with the main commemoration in the centre in the form of a stone with the inscription: "To the Unknown Polish Soldier / on the tenth anniversary of Independence / of the Polish State / 1918 XI 1928". This boulder was placed on 11.11.1928. In 2001 and 2010 renovation work was carried out on the quarter, completely changing the appearance of the main commemoration. This work was financed by Dionizy Magadzio (retired army captain), without consulting the institutions responsible for the care of memorials about the scope of the work or the rationale for changing the main commemoration. In addition, the founder of the renovation had prepared a magnificent grave for himself in this quarter, just before the main commemoration. The renovation of the section was carried out in 2020-2021 by the Foundation in Aid to Poles in the East within the framework of the task subsidised by the programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad". Due to the considerable deterioration of the tombstone material, granite replicas were made, the main monument underwent conservation, restoring it - as far as possible - to its former form. The grave slab intended for D. Magadzio was dismantled and placed outside the quarters.
