The quarters of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Bolshevik war

On 5.07.1920 a battle took place here in which a total of about 1500 soldiers died on both sides. Most of them were buried in the local cemetery as unknown soldiers. The bodies of soldiers scattered in the parish cemetery and in the fields and by the roads near Głębokie were exhumed in the war quarters of the cemetery in Głębokie. The remains of soldiers from the following localities were also transferred here: Bujnino, Konstantynów, Gwozdów, Hatowszczyzna, Wierzchnia, Zalesie Cerkiewne, Zaborze and Ziewalicze. The plot is not fenced, has 109 graves, which are situated in 5 rows. On the grave crosses are engraved inscriptions commemorating 58 soldiers known by name and 81 unknown; at the top of the cemetery there is a central monument with a stone inscription plaque. The inscription reads: "In tribute / to the fallen in defence / of the Homeland / soldiers / of the 2nd Brigade of the Cavalry / 29 November 1921". The renovation of the cemetery was carried out in 2017-2018 by the Foundation Helping Poles in the East as part of a task subsidised by the programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad". Due to the considerable deterioration of the tombstone material, granite replicas were made.
