The quarters of Polish Army soldiers killed in the Polish-Ukrainian war

During the Polish-Ukrainian War, on 24.11.1918 the town was captured by a detachment of the Polish Army under Captain Wacław Zbrowski. Almost a month later, the Polish garrison was reinforced by a cavalry squadron under the command of Capt. Feliks Jaworski. On 21.01.1919 Ukrainian forces attacked the town, forcing the Poles to retreat, but an attack by Major Bończy-Uzdowski's group on 24.01.1919 led to the Poles regaining the town.

Polish soldiers killed in the fighting and those who died of wounds and illnesses were buried in the local cemetery.

About 30 soldiers' graves and a monument with a full-figure sculpture of a Polish soldier have survived to the present day. A cross with an eagle and the dates 1918-1933 was (secondarily) placed near the quarters. Formerly this cross stood on a large grave, which is now built over with new burials.

The plot was renovated in 2000 through the efforts of the "Association for the Commemoration of Poles Murdered in Volhynia".

Another refurbishment was carried out in 2021 under the programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad", the work was carried out by the Foundation Partnership for Central and Eastern Europe.
