Biography:

Leonard Marconi (1835-1899) born in Warsaw, a Polish sculptor of Italian origin. His father Ferrante settled in Poland in 1828. Leonard studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and at the Academy of St Luke in Rome. From 1862 to 1873 he ran a sculpture atelier in Warsaw. From 1873 he taught at the Lviv Technical Academy. He was the author of many sculptural works, including: the Tadeusz Kościuszko monument in Krakow (a copy of the sculpture in Detroit, USA); the façade of the Grand Hotel in Lviv and the decoration of the façade and interiors of the Galician Sejm also in Lviv.
