Biography:

Ludwik Faliner (1802-1827), son of a clerk, physician. He left Warsaw as a result of repressions related to events at the University of Warsaw. In 1824, he obtained a degree in medicine and surgery and a master's degree in philosophy. He then left for Paris to pursue further studies (Gerber, p. 274). According to the Kurier Warszawski (KW No. 101, 14 April 1827, p. 1), Faliner was a physician who graduated from the Royal University of Warsaw and honed his medical skills in Paris. He died on 27 March 1827 in Paris at the age of 24.

The KW article states that Ludwik Faliner, endowed with many qualities and high hopes for the future, died in the prime of life. After completing his studies in Warsaw, he continued his studies in Paris for several years. His death caused deep grief among the Polish émigrés who, more than 30 in number, accompanied the deceased on his last journey to the cemetery. In addition, a contribution was organised to erect a monument on his grave to express the friendship and grief of his compatriots.
