Biography:

Marian Wnuk (1906-1967), born in Przedborze, sculptor, educator and artistic activist. He studied sculpture in the atelier of Tadeusz Breyer at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1927-1933). He then worked as a sculpture teacher at the State Institute of Fine Arts in Lviv (1933-1943). During the Soviet occupation, he collaborated with the underground Council to Aid Jews. Between 1948 and 1949 he was professor and rector of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk. In 1949, he became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, a position he held until his death in 1967; he also served as the university's rector from 1951 to 1954 and from 1959 to 1967.
