Biography:

Michał Mikołaj Czacki (1797-1860), born in Złoczów, son of Dominik and Regina née Gutkowska. Marshal of the Volhynian nobility, conspirator and officer in the November Rising, knight of the Gold Cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari.

After graduating from the Cadet School of the Cavalry, he served in a squadron of lancers of the Guard. After his resignation in 1817, he settled in his family estate, and in 1826 became Marshal of the Volhynian nobility. During the November Rising, he organised armed units, and after the arrival of General Dwernicki's troops, he joined the corps and was appointed regimental officer of the Volhynian Voivodeship. He took part in the Battle of Boremle, for which he received the Gold Cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari.

After the defeat of the uprising, the Czacki estate in Boremle was confiscated. Czacki emigrated, stayed in France for a short time, and then settled in Galicia, where he purchased Świstelniki. He was married three times: to Tekla Pilichowska, Franciszka Jałowicka and Konstancja Sułkowska. He died in Lviv in 1860.
