Michał Dąbrowski (1901-1989), member of the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. In 1933, he arrived in the apostolic vicariate of Mackenzie, Canada. For more than fifty years he worked in various places in the vast diocese beyond the Arctic Circle, including many years as helmsman of a mission ship on the Mackenzie River, bringing food, fuel and children to the missions at Fort Providence, Norman Wells, Coppermine, Inuvik as far as Taktuyaktuk on the Glacial Ocean. He had bound his 50 years of life to the North of Canada. In 1986, due to a serious illness, he left the Far North to live in a retirement home in St Albert, where he died in 1989 at the age of 88.
