Mieczysław Józef Batsch (1900-1977), born in Lviv, son of Jan and Maria, née Kogut, footballer.

An alumni of Lviv's Pogoń, which he joined in 1916. With the team, he won the Polish championship four times (1922, 1923, 1925, 1926), and in 1923 he became the top scorer with seventeen goals. He made his debut for the Polish national team in 1923 and appeared at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. His greatest success was scoring four goals in a match against Finland in 1926. In total, he scored eight goals in eleven international matches.

Mieczysław Batsch was also a mechanical engineer, a graduate of Lviv Polytechnic (1931). After graduating, he began working for the Polish State Railways (PKP), where he served as an engine driver and manager of the steam depot in Przemyśl, and later as head of the directorate in Medyka-Zurawica.
