Biography:

Mieczysław Rasiej (1924-2007), son of Zygmunt and Helena, née Habilewicz, soldier of the 2nd Polish Corps, engineer and Polish activist in Italy. After deportation to Siberia during World War II, he joined the Anders Army and took part in the Italian campaign, including the Battle of Monte Cassino. After the war, he settled in Turin, where he completed his engineering studies and worked in managerial positions in industry. He was actively involved in Polish communities abroad - he founded and managed the Polish Centre in Turin, was president of the Association of Poles in Italy, and co-founded cultural institutions in London and Rome. In the 1980s, he was involved in helping the underground "Solidarity" movement.
