Biography:

Mikołaj Bazyli Potocki (1707/1708-1782), son of Stefan Aleksander Potocki and Joanna Sieniawska, starosta of Kaniów, Knight of Malta, bibliophile, patron of the arts. In 1724, he resided in Paris, and later became deputy to Stanisław Leszczyński for the pacta conventa. He was the founder of numerous religious buildings, including the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Horodenka, the Basilian Monastery in Buczacz and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Buczacz. In 1774 he was awarded the title of Knight of Malta.
